Mepro TRU-DOT RDS with Magnifier

We have had several questions about compatibility of the Mepro TRU-DOT RDS with magnifiers. While I have mounted a magnifier behind the Mepro RDS before, I felt a few photos would be appropriate.

The combination of the Mepro TRU-DOT RDS red dot sight and the Mepro MX3 Magnifier works very well. The view is clear and sharp. Unfortunately, I don’t have the skill with a camera to really convey how well it works with the naked eye, but is works very well.

The Mepro TRU-DOT RDS is a great sight for use with magnifiers because the dot is small and clean, and the size of the window keeps the view through the magnifier uncluttered.

  1. Good day!

I’m not an AR15 guy, so a couple of questions.

    1. Are you point a rifle at a town?
    2. Is the sight picture / bore offset enough that the muzzle is actually pointed at the ground?
2a. If so, is whatever earth that is in front of the muzzle enough to absorb a bullet so it’s not launched against the town?

    Thank you!

    • First, you are correct, the trajectory of a bullet fired at that angle is such that the bullet would fall short.
However this does not matter, because with a safety rod in the bore of a rifle, it is completely impossible for a cartridge to be chambered. The safety rod requires the rifle to be disassembled and is inserted from the chamber end, blocking both the chamber and the bore. We use these safety rods for training, as they make the weapon completely safe – it basically becomes a dummy gun.
